Barrows and Gowns

A couple of lady friends invited me over for a bit of christmas brunch and cheer (two things that really go hand in hand: brunch and cheer).
On my way to their house, I almost whizzed past this! Sitting forlornly on the side of the street, wheel-less but proud. I imagined the barrow load of strawberries I could muster up in this next summer, or the bulbs I could throw in over autumn. How (I pondered for too long) could I get it back to my house, on a bike?
After some deep and serious consideration of the logistics of carrying a wheelbarrow AND riding, it was decided I would hasten back there in the morning with a carriage slightly more suited to the job. Like, let's say,  a car.

I was bitter with disappointment of course, when the next day I found that the barrow was gone. A six-year old little friend (who had at the time, a mere 12 hours left to prove he had been nice enough this whole year for santa's list) scolded me by saying that "it's greedy to have two wheelbarrows.".... pfff.

In the meantime, I enjoyed a scrumptious feast at the hands of Reim the masterful breaky chef and such thoughful gift giving by these lovely ladies that I temporarily forgot all about the wheel-less wheelbarrow. A new and truly innovative spectacle was then unveiled. The Jo Foley Christmas Tree:

Complete with christmas baubles and  even australian animal ornamants, this 'tree' really ticked all the right boxes for anyone like me who's a little anti-coniferous this time of year.

And of course, the sweetest little christmas gift, to top it all off... Arthy.

What a lovely christmas it's been.
